    Hey! I'm Brooklyn Kerr, author of spicy romantic suspense novels, usually. I just love the mix of danger, action, and romance in my books! While the style of the romance is a little like chocolate, changing from semi-sweet to dark, it's the genre I love. Lately, though, I'm getting into other genres, too. I've written a rom-com holiday novella and enjoyed it so much that I started writing other rom-coms. Then, I wrote a murder mystery, a country music romance, a series of rom-com suspense novels, and turned my new contemporary romance into a series. As you can see, I write a lot. I write quickly, but I don't publish as quickly as I write. So, some years I publish more, some years less, but I have a great back catalog to check out if you like my writing style and you're looking to try other genres. My writing journey started during the pandemic when I had to leave the workforce to stay home with my son. Since my job wasn't one that came with health insurance, I chose to stay home to help my son with schooling. He was too young to handle it on his own, so I decided to start a new phase in my life. The problem was that I was used to working full-time as a lawyer. I needed something to keep my mind busy, so I started writing. When I finished one book, I sent it to my husband to read, and he loved it! But he was my only audience.
    Then my husband changed jobs and we moved to a new area of the Midwest. I put writing aside for a while to get the new house set up, my special needs pets established with a new vet, and my son situated. But it wasn't too long, and I was writing again. And this time about a fictitious big city in Minnesota I named Taylor Ridge. My husband absolutely adored the series and encouraged me to look for a way to publish it. So, in 2023, I published my first series of books: The Hockey Stars of Taylor Ridge. After that series was published, since Taylor Ridge was such a big city, I started seeing other facets to life there. And a character from Choosing You who didn't get the girl started telling me his story through other characters. Thus, the Diablo Series came to be. It took a while to plan it all out, figuring out who the couples would be, making sure the tropes and ages were varied, and I loved every second of it! It's a much darker series with content warnings, so check those before reading. I was a little lost when it was over, but I'm so glad I spent so much time with Dead Man's Metal. They'll live in my heart forever! Since 2024, I've also published two other books outside of a series, I'll Be Green For Christmas and Bacon Bits. I'll Be Green For Christmas is a cute, little holiday novella (well for me it is, as one of the shortest books I've ever written). It's a rom-com about a woman who dyes herself green that turns out to be excessively long-lasting and won't wash off - at all. About that time, her ex-boyfriend from high school runs into her and wants to rekindle things. Grumpy about being green, Ivy avoids him and sulks. You'll love her fiesty best friend, Derek's little girl, the found family that develops, and how theater brings the town together in this sweet but spicy story! As for Bacon Bits, I wrote it for my son, so it's a sweet story of Frankie and Cal, two third graders who have no control over life, struggle with aspects of it that strain their friendship, and have to learn how to learn how to forgive each other. I will be continuing on with that series soon!
    You'll see in these books that my novels are all about overcoming trauma and healing. Most of my career was spent serving victims and survivors of domestic abuse with all areas of civil law. I then worked as the director of a children's advocacy center for a few years helping children who were suspected of being abused tell their story, get the help from the legal system, and provide them with counseling to help them move forward. After working with so many survivors, I have a unique perspective of the struggles and challenges they often face. In my books, though, no matter what they go through (which is a lot!), there will be a happy ending. (However, my books are not based on anything that happened to any one particular person. My books are just characters, ideas, and scenarios from my imagination.}
    When I'm not writing, I'm attending to one of our older special needs rescue animals, supporting my indie author friends, spending time with family, reading, cooking, cleaning, gardening, or baking. Things around our household are usually chaotic, so I sip my emotional support tea from the cup my husband gave me to commemorate becoming an author, take a deep breath, and handle the inevitable problems one at a time.

    When I began publishing, my 17-year-old cat, Sofie Morgan was very ill. She'd had many health struggles throughout her life, but at this stage in her life, she developed a second form of diabetes, dementia, and had difficulty walking. She preferred to be independent, but she accepted our help, knowing she couldn't get to where she needed to go without our help. Those particular health challenges meant that she would wander off and cry unless she was with me and settled in comfortably. So, I spent a lot of time sitting in a comfortable chair with my legs up, a blanket on them, and Sofie cuddled up in my lap. There, she was at peace. She was also losing weight without constant feedings throughout the day, so I was able to monitor her food intake this way. However, it meant hours of not moving. So, I pulled out my laptop and started writing. It was due to her illness where she needed constant care, day and night, that I spent so much time in front of a computer, writing more books than I care to count. It was an escape from the bleak reality that I knew in my heart: she had a brain tumor. She didn't sleep well, up late and waking early. When she did rest, it was during the day and on my lap or on a pet bed at my side. Anytime I moved, she had to move, too, so I tried to stay still for her well-being. After two years of fighting against her body, she succumbed to her illness on December 28, 2023. She was nineteen years old. So, when it came time to name the publishing company I wanted to write under, I chose to name it after my sweet girl, Sofie Morgan.
